Purpose
The Missions Committee exists to encourage engagement in missions – service and evangelism – locally and globally. We believe that mission begins in the heart of God who sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to save the world. This salvation is for every person who lives separated from God, urgently needing to hear the gospel of Christ and his love, grace, and favour, and is directed to every area of need (e.g., poverty).
Vision
It’s our hope that Scott Street Church is known as an engaging community that loves, serves, and partners with vulnerable people, communities, and organizations – locally and globally. It’s our desire to participate with God in his mission of justice and peace in the world through building relationships, reconciliation, poverty alleviation, and developing disciples.
Mission Partners
Mennonite Central Committee
MCC works all over the world to bring relief, development and peace in the name of Christ. We support their work financially, by providing quilts to be sent to refugee camps, and doing an annual drive to raise funds for relief kits that will also be sent to refugee camps and provide basic hygiene and care products to displaced people.
Vision Thailand
Although only slightly higher than 0.5% of Thai people are Evangelical Christians, the good news of Christ is currently spreading through the work of Vision Thailand. Vision Thailand is developing and equipping national leaders for pioneer church planting and has established a Church Planting & Leadership Development School, led by theologically trained Thai pastors and have students simultaneously start new churches under the supervision of senior Thai pastors. We financially sponsor a collective of 6 Thai churches called Fountain Spring Churches.
Niagara Life Centre
Niagara Life Centre is a Christian organization caring for families and individuals by offering hope, help and healing. We provide practical and compassionate care through therapy, counselling, guidance and support for the emotional, social, physical and spiritual needs of those we serve.
YFC Youth Unlimited
YFC exists to see every young person living fully in Christ. Their ministry is committed to helping youth develop holistically by offering programs and developing relationships that nurture the whole person – physically, mentally, emotionally, socially and spiritually.
Compassion Canada
As one of the world’s leading child development organizations, Compassion’s mission is to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name. Over the last 70 years, Compassion revolutionized the fight against global poverty by partnering with local churches to lift children out of spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty.
